Thanks for asking the question. I couldn't content myself with just a name, and let it go at that. It's a writer thing, and since I'm a writer too, I would like to answer your question in depth, to identify the writer, and talk about why I'd most wish to write as she does.

The author is C.J. Heck

Primarily a poet, but not exclusively so, she writes children's books and books for adults. Many authors can do one or the other, but she does both flawlessly. She has an authentic voice in both genres, and I find that skill most desirable.

The children's books are delightful for their humor, playfulness, and honesty. She knows a child's heart, as a child does. She knows their language and articulates it well. And it’s all so much fun, even adults enjoy it. My favorite book title is “Me Too! Preschool Poetry”.

Her work for adults, “Bits And Pieces”, (20 short stories) and “Anatomy of A Poet“ (poetry) are uncompromisingly honest and they speak with compassion about what happens when we grow up— the very best and the very worst of it, too, all beautifully articulated and vividly pictured in every word. I think she's got life well covered from the “git go” to the “git on out.”

So, this is my author, and why I'd like to emulate her. She just blows my mind —themes, style, and everything. You bet I'd like to write like that.
